When Brad W. moved from Peachtree City to Newnan, he knew who to call for exterior cleaning. Firehouse Pressure Washing had washed his previous property, and he trusted our team to care for his Newnan home.

For this visit, Keith handled the house soft washing along with pressure washing the driveway, walkways and back patio. The project brought together several exterior cleaning services in one appointment, addressing both the home’s exterior and the concrete surfaces around it.

Soft washing for a textured home exterior

Brad’s before photos show a light green, textured exterior with visible discoloration along the lower walls and beneath several windows. These areas can stand out against a lighter exterior, even on a property with a carefully maintained lawn and landscaping.

Keith soft washed the house, using a cleaning approach suited to the exterior rather than relying on high pressure against the walls. Matching the cleaning method to the surface is an important part of how we approach house washing in Newnan.

Driveway, walkway and back patio pressure washing

The service also included Brad’s driveway, walkways and back patio. Pressure washing these surfaces alongside the house makes it possible to address the front approach, walking paths and outdoor gathering area during the same visit.

After the work, Brad shared this review:

Keith did an outstanding job on soft washing the house and pressure washing my driveway, walkways and back patio and is a pleasure to work with.

Brad W., Google review

For our team, being invited back after a customer moves is meaningful. Brad’s continued business reflects the trust we work to earn with every property we service.

Joy's Newnan project covered the house, driveway and front walk, plus the patio, stone walkway, retaining wall and screened-in porch, all in one visit.

For Joy in Newnan, exterior cleaning went well beyond the front of the house. She hired Firehouse Pressure Washing for a project that included her house, driveway and front walk, along with several backyard living areas.

The full scope covered the home’s exterior, excluding the roof, plus the back patio, stone walkway, retaining wall, screened-in porch and outdoor furniture. Cleaning these areas together allowed Joy to take care of the front approach and backyard spaces in one visit.

From the driveway to the screened-in porch

The driveway and front sidewalk are prominent parts of a home’s entrance. Joy’s project paired cleaning those surfaces with house washing, giving attention to both the home and the paths leading to it.

In the backyard, our team cleaned the patio, stone walkway and retaining wall. The screened-in porch and outdoor furniture were also included, extending the service to the spaces used for relaxing and spending time outside.

Different exterior materials call for an approach suited to each surface. This project brought house washing and hardscape cleaning together across a varied set of outdoor areas.

Joy’s experience with Firehouse Pressure Washing

After the service, Joy praised the team’s punctuality, customer focus, pricing and results:

They were prompt, extremely customer focused and did a great job for a very reasonable price!

Joy, Google review

She also shared:

My house looks phenomenal!

Joy, Google review

Joy reported that the team completed her project in an hour. Each property’s scope and cleaning needs determine the time required, but we were pleased that she appreciated the efficiency of her service.

We’re grateful for Joy’s recommendation and the opportunity to care for her Newnan home.

In June 2026, Blake soft washed a home in Peachtree City’s Smokerise neighborhood. Spider webs needed attention, and our house-wash solution removed them as part of the exterior cleaning. The homeowner later left a five-star review that praised both his work and his friendly attitude.

Sc

Washing homes in Smokerise

Smokerise is a neighborhood where the surroundings play a big part in how we approach a job. Homes here are often 5,000 square feet or larger, with mature landscaping and large trees around them. The lake in the center of the community adds to the setting, and we encounter plenty of bugs and spider webs when washing homes in the neighborhood.

Why the details matter

On properties like these, attention to detail matters. A large exterior gives us more surface area to cover, while the established landscaping requires awareness as we work around the home. Spider webs are another detail that needs attention during the wash. Cleaning the most noticeable areas alone would leave the job incomplete.

The soft-wash process

Blake used our soft-wash process for the house. This method lets the house-wash solution do the cleaning work, followed by a low-pressure rinse. It allows us to address exterior buildup and remove webs without relying on aggressive water pressure.

Quick, kind and done with a smile

The customer’s feedback showed that the experience mattered just as much as the cleaning. In her review, she wrote:

BLAKE did a great job on the soft house wash. He was quick and kind. Got in did the clean and left with a smile.

Kimberly S., Google review

That is the kind of service we want to provide on every visit: careful cleaning, attention to the property and a friendly person doing the work. Blake brought all three to this Smokerise house wash.

In May 2026, Cody B. cleaned a house, roof and back patio in The Gates subdivision in Peachtree City. This neighborhood has meticulously maintained landscaping, with sodded front and back yards. Protecting those lawns, plants and bushes was an important part of the job.

Watering first, and watering after

Before beginning, Cody thoroughly watered the surrounding plants and grass. He watered them again after the cleaning to help dilute and rinse away any cleaning solution that might have reached the landscaping. With carefully maintained greenery throughout the property, special attention was needed to help prevent browning.

The north-facing roof

The north-facing sections of the roof were especially dirty. Cody treated the roof using our no-pressure application system, allowing the cleaning solution to address the organic buildup without pressure washing the roofing. Learn more about our roof cleaning.

Newer homes and oxidation

The house required a different kind of attention. Many homes in this neighborhood are less than 10 years old, and we often perform their first professional exterior wash. Even on newer homes, we watch for oxidation on siding exposed to full sun, particularly on south-facing elevations.

Oxidation can leave a chalky layer on siding. Disturbing that layer during cleaning can create uneven marks, so our technicians train on soft-wash methods designed to avoid disturbing it. This allows us to address dirt and organic growth while being mindful of the existing finish. House washing and oxidation removal are different services, and recognizing that distinction matters.

Finishing with the back patio

Cody also pressure washed the back patio, completing the cleanup of the home’s exterior and outdoor gathering space.

What the homeowner said

The homeowner left a five-star review praising both the service and the care taken with the property:

Everyone was so wonderful to work with. Would highly recommend! Clean up and attention to detail was great!

Mary, Google review

That attention to detail, from watering the landscaping to choosing the appropriate cleaning method for each surface, was central to this project.

In October 2026, we cleaned a home in Peachtree City’s Saranac Park neighborhood that needed attention from the roof down to the sidewalk. Mold, mildew and algae had built up on the house, roof, driveway, back patio and sidewalk. Keith B. handled the project, using a different cleaning approach for each surface.

Soft washing the house

For the house, Keith used our soft-wash process. This allows the cleaning solution to do the work of treating organic growth, followed by a low-pressure rinse. It’s an effective way to clean the exterior without relying on aggressive water pressure.

A no-pressure roof treatment

The roof received a treatment with our no-pressure application system. Roof cleaning calls for a different approach than driveway cleaning, so we apply the treatment without pressure washing the roofing. The treatment addresses the organic growth rather than trying to blast it away.

Protecting the landscaping

Keith also took care of the landscaping throughout the job. He thoroughly watered nearby plants before the roof and concrete cleaning, then watered them again afterward to help dilute and rinse away any cleaning solution that might have reached them. Those steps are an important part of caring for the property while we clean.

Driveway, back patio and sidewalk

For the driveway, back patio and sidewalk, Keith used pressure washing to remove the accumulated buildup. Cleaning these areas alongside the house and roof brought the whole exterior together, from the front approach to the outdoor space behind the home.

The result

Everything turned out great, and the homeowner’s feedback said it best:

Keith did an INCREDIBLE job on our home! The difference is absolutely night and day.

Ariel B., Google review

The homeowner also praised the finished appearance of the house, driveway and walkways. It was a rewarding result for Keith and a great example of matching the cleaning method to each part of the property.

Every November, homeowners across Peachtree City, Fayetteville, and Newnan drag out the tangled bins and the old extension ladder and lose a whole Saturday to Christmas lights. Half the strands don’t work. The roofline looks crooked. And someone ends up on a ladder longer than they’d like.

There’s an easier way. Firehouse Power Washing offers professional Christmas light installation in Peachtree City and across Fayette and Coweta County. We handle design, installation, in-season fixes, January takedown, and storage, so you get a great-looking home without the risk or the hassle.

And yes, the people on the ladders are firefighters. Nobody trains harder on ladder safety.

Why More Homeowners Are Hiring Out Their Christmas Lights

Hanging lights looks simple until you’re two stories up on a sloped roof in a Georgia wind. Here’s why more of our neighbors hand the job off every year.

DIY Holiday Decorating Sends Thousands to the ER

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) tracks holiday decorating injuries every year. The numbers are sobering: emergency rooms treat thousands of decorating-related injuries each season, and falls are among the most common. Sadly, some DIY installs have even ended in deaths.

As retired firefighters and paramedics, we’ve seen these calls firsthand. A ladder slip that “only takes a second” can change your holidays, and your year.

Your Time Is Worth More Than a Tangled Strand

A professional install takes the whole weekend project off your list. No testing bulbs one by one, no trips to the hardware store for more clips, and no wrestling ladders in the cold. You get the weekend back for family, football, or anything else.

A Professional Design Simply Looks Better

Straight lines, even spacing, and clips matched to your gutters and shingles make the difference between “nice” and “the house everyone slows down to see.” We design around your home’s architecture so the lights highlight its best features.

What’s Included in Our Christmas Light Installation Service

We handle every phase of holiday decorating for residential and commercial properties:

Custom Design Consultation: Answer a few questions about your style and budget, and we’ll suggest a design that fits your home. Prefer your own idea? We’ll bring it to life.

Professional Installation: Our crew installs your display by your scheduled date and protects your roof, gutters, and landscaping as we work.

In-Season Troubleshooting: If a section goes dark during the season, call us. We’ll come fix it.

January Takedown: After the holidays, we come back, take everything down carefully, and leave your home just as we found it.

Storage: We store your lights at our facility so they stay in good working order for next year. No more bins in the garage.

Why Trust Firefighters With Your Holiday Lights?

Firefighters climb ladders for a living, and safety training is part of our everyday work. That carries over into every holiday install:

Certified crew: Our team holds CLIPA (Christmas Light Installation Professionals Association), OSHA 10, and ladder certifications.

Insured to work on roofs: We carry the insurance to walk your roof, so the risk stays off you.

Inspected equipment: We inspect our ladders daily, monthly, and yearly, and pull any damaged ladder from service until it’s repaired.

Background-checked team: Every employee is background checked, friendly, and respectful of your home.

Local since 1998: We’ve served the Peachtree City area for decades, so we know the neighborhoods, the HOAs, and the homes.

When you invite us to your property, we treat it like our own.

When Should You Book Christmas Light Installation?

Book early. October and early November are the best times. Install calendars fill quickly once Thanksgiving gets close, and the most popular dates (the weekend before and after Thanksgiving) go first.

Booking early gets you:

Your first choice of install date

More time to plan your design

Lights up and ready before the first holiday party

Pro tip: Pair your lights with a house wash or roof cleaning before the install. Lights look better on a clean house, and you’ll be ready for holiday guests. If you’re not sure your home is due, see our guide on how often to pressure wash your home in Georgia.

Soft washing is the go-to method for cleaning roofs, siding, and delicate surfaces here in Georgia, where heat and humidity keep algae, mold, and mildew growing year-round. But here’s something most homeowners don’t realize: the “soft” in soft washing refers to the water pressure, not the chemistry.

The real cleaning power comes from professional-grade solutions that have to be mixed, applied, and rinsed the right way. In trained hands, those solutions clean safely and last longer than pressure alone. In untrained hands, the same solutions can burn landscaping, streak surfaces, and put your family and pets at risk.

That’s why chemical training is one of the most important parts of exterior cleaning, and one of the least talked about.

Industry Resource: This topic is covered in depth by Cleaner Times, the monthly technical journal for the pressure washing industry, in their article Training in the Proper Use of Chemicals.

What Chemicals Are Used in Soft Washing?

Every job is different, but most exterior cleaning relies on a few core types of solutions:

Sodium hypochlorite: The active ingredient that kills algae, mold, mildew, and lichen at the root. It’s in the same family as household bleach, but used at professional strengths that require careful handling.

Surfactants: These help the cleaning solution cling to vertical surfaces and spread evenly instead of running straight off.

Degreasers and detergents: Used on driveways, garage floors, and anywhere oil or grime has built up.

Rust and stain removers: Often acid-based, these tackle inorganic stains like rust, irrigation marks, and Georgia red clay.

Not sure which type of staining you’re dealing with? Our guide on organic vs. inorganic matter on the exterior of your home breaks it down.

Here’s the critical part: some of these products should never be combined. Mixing bleach-based solutions with acids or ammonia can release toxic gases. A trained technician knows exactly which products can share a job site and which ones need to stay separate.

Why Chemical Training Matters

It Protects Your Landscaping

Cleaning solutions don’t stay where they’re sprayed. They run off roofs, drip from gutters, and drift in the wind. A trained crew knows how to pre-wet plants, manage runoff, and rinse beds thoroughly so your shrubs, flowers, and grass stay healthy after the job.

It Protects Your Home’s Surfaces

The wrong dilution or too much dwell time can leave streaks, dull painted finishes, or corrode metal fixtures and outdoor lighting. Proper training means matching the right solution and strength to each surface, whether that’s vinyl siding, brick, stucco, or asphalt shingles.

It Protects Your Family and Pets

Kids, dogs, and cats are curious. A professional crew sets up the work area so no one walks through wet solution, keeps pets inside during application, and rinses play areas and walkways before leaving.

It Protects the Crew

Chemical exposure can cause skin burns, eye injuries, and respiratory irritation. Crews who are trained on protective equipment and safe handling can work efficiently without putting themselves at risk, which also means fewer delays and a smoother job for you.

What Proper Chemical Training Covers

A well-trained exterior cleaning technician should understand:

Labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Knowing the hazards of every product before it’s ever used on a property

Dilution and mixing: Using the correct ratio for each surface and stain type

Never-mix rules: Keeping incompatible chemicals separate at all times

Personal protective equipment (PPE): Gloves, eye protection, and the right clothing for the product being used

Dwell time and rinsing: Letting the solution work long enough, then rinsing it away completely

Storage and transport: Securing chemicals safely on the truck and at the shop

Spill and exposure response: Knowing exactly what to do if something goes wrong

Weather awareness: Adjusting for Georgia heat, which dries solutions faster, and wind, which causes drift

The Power Washers of North America (PWNA) offers a dedicated Chemical Safety Training course covering these fundamentals for exterior cleaning contractors.

More Chemical Is Not Better

One of the most common DIY mistakes is assuming a stronger mix cleans better. It doesn’t. Overly strong solutions increase the risk of plant damage and surface discoloration without improving results. The goal is the right amount, applied the right way, for the right amount of time.

This is also why we don’t recommend DIY soft washing with store-bought bleach and a pump sprayer. Without the proper equipment, surfactants, and dilution know-how, homeowners often end up with uneven results, damaged plants, or a roof that looks clean for a few weeks before the growth comes right back. If roof cleaning is on your list, check out our 5 roof cleaning tips every homeowner should know.

How Firehouse Power Washing Handles Chemicals

Our team is made up of firefighters, and respecting hazardous materials is part of how we work every day. That same mindset carries onto every property we clean.

Owner Mike Dingler is also active in industry education and has helped lead training at the PWNA Education Summit, because safer contractors make for a better industry and better results for homeowners.

On every job, our process includes:

Walking the property to identify surfaces, stains, and sensitive areas

Choosing the right solution for each surface instead of a one-size-fits-all mix

Protecting landscaping before, during, and after application

Applying at low pressure to clean without damaging your home

Monitoring dwell time so the solution works without overstaying

Rinsing thoroughly so nothing is left behind on plants, walkways, or play areas

Doing a final walkthrough to make sure everything looks right

Questions to Ask Before You Hire an Exterior Cleaning Company

Before anyone sprays anything on your home, ask:

What cleaning solutions will you use on my home?

How do you protect my plants, grass, and pets?

Has your crew been trained in chemical handling and safety?

Are you licensed and insured?

Which of my surfaces need soft washing, and which can handle pressure washing?

A professional company should be able to answer every one of these clearly and confidently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is soft washing safe for plants?

Yes, when it’s done by a trained crew. Pre-wetting plants, controlling runoff, and rinsing thoroughly after application keeps your landscaping protected.

Is soft washing safe for pets?

Yes. Keep pets indoors during the cleaning. Once surfaces have been rinsed and dried, your technician will let you know when it’s fine for pets to go back outside.

Do I need to be home during soft washing?

Not usually. As long as the crew has access to outdoor water and pets are secured inside, most exterior cleaning jobs can be done while you’re away.

Can I soft wash my house with regular bleach?

We don’t recommend it. Household bleach without the right surfactants, equipment, and dilution often gives uneven results and raises the risk of damaging plants and surfaces.

How is soft washing different from pressure washing?

Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to remove dirt and grime from hard surfaces like concrete. Soft washing uses low pressure and cleaning solutions to safely treat delicate surfaces like roofs and siding.

The Final Word

Clean results should never come at the cost of your landscaping, your home, or your family’s safety. The difference between a good exterior cleaning and a costly mistake often comes down to one thing: whether the crew truly understands the chemicals they’re using.

At Firehouse Power Washing, we treat every home like it’s our own. As we like to say, no one is better with water than a firefighter on his day off.

Georgia homeowners deal with something most of the country doesn’t have to think about: a climate that actively works against your home’s exterior, every single month of the year.

Between the humidity that fuels mold and algae growth, the spring pollen that coats every surface in yellow-green dust, the summer storms that splatter mud and debris across your siding, and the winter moisture that lingers in the shade – your home’s exterior takes a constant beating. And if you wait until it looks bad to do something about it, you’re probably already dealing with damage you can’t see.

So how often should you actually be pressure washing your home in Georgia? The answer depends on what surface you’re talking about.

Your House (Siding, Brick, Stucco): Once a Year

Your home’s siding is the biggest surface exposed to the elements, and in Georgia, it collects dirt, pollen, mold, and algae faster than almost anywhere else in the country. If your house has any north-facing walls, you’ve probably already noticed green or dark streaking. That’s organic growth, and it doesn’t just look bad – it can break down paint, stain surfaces permanently, and create conditions for moisture damage behind the siding.

For most homes in Coweta and Fayette County, an annual house washing is the sweet spot. If your property is heavily shaded or surrounded by mature trees, you may want to move to every eight or nine months.

One important note: house washing should always be done with a soft wash method, not high-pressure blasting. Soft washing uses low-pressure water combined with professional cleaning solutions that kill mold, mildew, and algae at the root. High pressure can crack vinyl siding, gouge wood, force water behind your siding, and strip paint. We only use soft wash techniques on siding, and there’s a reason every major siding manufacturer recommends the same.

Sc

Your Driveway and Sidewalks: Every 1 to 2 Years

Concrete is tough, but it’s also porous. That means it absorbs dirt, oil, tire marks, and organic stains over time. In Georgia’s humid climate, you’ll also see mold and algae forming in shaded sections, which creates a slippery surface and an eyesore.

For most homeowners in Peachtree City, Newnan, Senoia, and the surrounding areas, a thorough driveway cleaning every 12 to 18 months keeps things looking sharp and prevents long-term staining that becomes permanent if ignored. If your driveway is under heavy tree cover or gets a lot of vehicle traffic, annual cleaning is the better call.

Unlike your house, driveways and sidewalks can handle higher-pressure cleaning. Our surface cleaners deliver even, streak-free results that hand-held wands can’t match. If you’ve ever seen those zebra-stripe patterns on a driveway after someone tried to pressure wash it themselves, that’s exactly what professional equipment avoids.

Your Deck or Patio: Once a Year (Especially Wood)

Decks are one of the most overlooked surfaces when it comes to exterior maintenance, and in Georgia, they pay the price. Wood decks absorb moisture, which feeds mold and mildew growth from the inside out. Composite decking holds up better, but it still collects dirt, pollen, and algae that make it slippery and discolored.

An annual cleaning before summer entertaining season keeps your deck safe, looking great, and lasting longer. For wood decks, soft washing is critical – high pressure will splinter and gouge the wood fibers, leaving a rough, damaged surface that deteriorates faster. After cleaning, it’s a great time to apply a fresh coat of sealant or stain to lock in the protection.

Your Fence: Every 1 to 2 Years

Wood and vinyl fences both benefit from regular cleaning, but they’re often the last thing homeowners think about. By the time you notice your fence is covered in green algae or gray weathering, the damage is well underway.

A soft wash every 12 to 24 months keeps fences looking new and prevents the kind of buildup that leads to wood rot. If you’re already scheduling a house wash or driveway cleaning, adding the fence to the same visit is the most efficient way to handle it.

The Best Time of Year to Schedule

In Georgia, the ideal window for exterior cleaning runs from late spring through early fall. Here’s why:

Late spring (May through early June) is perfect because pollen season is winding down and you’re cleaning off the worst of the buildup before summer heat sets in. Early fall (September through October) is another strong window – you’re clearing summer grime before the cooler months when organic growth slows down.

Avoid scheduling during peak pollen weeks in March and April if possible. You’ll just end up with a fresh coat of pollen on a clean surface. And while winter cleaning is possible, the shorter days and cooler temperatures mean cleaning solutions take longer to work.

DIY vs. Professional: When to Call In the Pros

There’s nothing wrong with rinsing off your patio furniture or hosing down the front porch yourself. But when it comes to your home’s siding, roof, and large hardscaped surfaces, professional cleaning makes a real difference – and it’s safer.

Professional equipment delivers consistent results without the streaking, missed spots, and surface damage that come with consumer-grade pressure washers. More importantly, professionals know which surfaces need soft washing versus pressure washing, which cleaning solutions are safe for your specific materials, and how to protect your landscaping during the process.

And there’s the safety factor. Every year, homeowners injure themselves on ladders, on wet surfaces, and from mishandled pressure washing equipment. It’s not worth the risk when the pros can knock it out in a few hours.

If you’ve been searching for roof cleaning in Peachtree City, you already know Georgia’s heat and humidity create the perfect conditions for algae, moss, and lichen — and they don’t stay small for long.

The good news? A little know-how goes a long way.

Here are five roof cleaning tips to help you protect one of your biggest investments.

Peachtree-City-Ga-Roof-Cleaning-Firehouse-Pressure-Washing-Soft-Washing-&-Roof-Cleaning

1. Know What’s Actually Growing Up There

Not all roof discoloration is the same. Before you do anything, identify what you’re dealing with:

Black streaks – Usually Gloeocapsa magma, a type of algae. Very common, spreads fast.

Green or fuzzy patches – Moss. Holds moisture against your shingles and causes damage over time.

White or gray crust – Lichen. The hardest to remove and the most damaging.

Each one requires a slightly different approach. Treating moss like algae (or vice versa) won’t get the job done.

2. Never Pressure Wash Asphalt Shingles

This is the biggest mistake homeowners make.

High-pressure washing blasts away the granules on asphalt shingles — the layer that protects your roof from UV rays and water. Once those granules are gone, your roof ages fast.

The right method is soft washing — low pressure combined with a biodegradable cleaning solution that kills algae and moss at the root without damaging your shingles. It’s the method recommended by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA).

3. Georgia’s Climate Makes Roof Cleaning in Peachtree City Essential

Roof cleaning isn’t just reactive — it should be part of your regular home maintenance routine.

A good rule of thumb:

Inspect your roof once a year, ideally in the spring or fall

Schedule a professional cleaning every 2–3 years, depending on your environment (shaded yards and humid climates need more frequent attention)

Catching algae early means easier removal and less damage. Waiting until your roof looks like a moss garden? That’s a much bigger job.

4. Watch Out for DIY Products That Promise Too Much

Walk down any hardware store aisle and you’ll find spray-on roof cleaners that claim to do the job in minutes. Some of them work — temporarily.

What they often don’t do:

Kill algae and moss at the root

Prevent regrowth

Clean evenly across a full roof surface

Some products also contain chemicals that can damage landscaping, gutters, or painted surfaces if not applied carefully. If you go the DIY route, read the label closely and rinse surrounding plants and surfaces before and after.

5. When to Call a Pro for Roof Cleaning in Peachtree City

Roof work is dangerous. Even experienced DIYers underestimate how slippery a wet, algae-covered roof can be.

Hire a professional if:

Your roof is steeply pitched

You have significant moss or lichen buildup

You’re not comfortable working at height

You want the job done right — without risking your shingles or your safety

A professional soft wash cleaning not only gets better results, it protects your warranty. Many roofing manufacturers void warranties on roofs that show evidence of pressure washing damage.

The Bottom Line

Your roof is one of the most expensive parts of your home to replace. Regular cleaning and proper technique can add years to its life and keep it looking sharp.

Have questions about what your roof actually needs? Contact Firehouse Power Wash for a free assessment — we’ll tell you exactly what you’re dealing with and how to fix it.
